About Me

Joe DeGroot I am an internet developer in the Twin Cities (Minnesota) metro area, and have worked in IT exclusively for the last eleven years. My emphasis was on data for the first eight years, with a primary focus on internet and .NET development since then. Prior to my current IT role, I was the manager and on-site IT subject matter expert for five years at a local retail establishment.

I recently began to freelance some web design work for a few people who were looking to establish a basic internet presence without a large expenditure. I am creating these current projects with XHTML, CSS, PHP, and MySQL because that provides the ability to create a dynamic website on nearly any provider's servers while keeping the costs reasonably low. I have not yet had the opportunity to do freelance work on an existing website using classic ASP or .NET, but I do work with both of those daily at my current full time employment.

Outside of the IT world, I enjoy spending time with my wonderful daughter, spending time with family and friends, exercising, fishing, shooting, traveling, and cheering on the Green Bay Packers, Detroit Red Wings, and Minnesota Wild.

I originally created this for my daughter to play with. She thought that it was really cool that she could control the screen color by just typing in some numbers and letters. I have since found it to be very useful for my own work.
